Gesar Karate Club has 11 dedicated athletes selected for the England Team, proudly representing our community at the 2025 World Karate Championship in Germany. With 8 junior members aged 9 to 14, this is a unique opportunity to support young local talent as they compete internationally. Since joining the World Karate Union (WKU) in 2021, our athletes have proudly represented at local, national, and international competitions — including the WKU World Championships in 2023 and 2024. The 2025 Championship in Germany marks our third time on the world stage.
Whether training in the dojo or competing abroad, our mission is the same: to build strength, confidence, and community — one student at a time.
Gesar Karate Club has been competing locally for the last 3–4 years and our athletes have already made a remarkable impact. 2025 marks our third appearance at the World Karate Championships, a testament to the dedication, discipline, and talent of our members and coaches.
Gesar Karate Club is a community-rooted martial arts school based in Holsworthy, Devon. We teach traditional Goju-Ryu Karate, a respected Okinawan style known for its balance of hard and soft techniques, discipline, and character development.
The club is a registered Community Interest Company (CIC) — which means every penny we raise goes back into supporting our athletes and offering inclusive, high-quality training opportunities.
Led by Sensei Hjalmar Dentlinger, a highly experienced black belt with a deep passion for youth development, the club has grown into a welcoming space for students of all ages and abilities. Several senior students have now earned their black belts and support the club as assistant instructors and mentors.
